Three ways a garage door opens
The right one is decided by your driveway and the space above the opening, not by the look. The finish comes afterwards.
Roller doors
The curtain coils into a box above the opening, so nothing swings out and nothing hangs from the ceiling. That makes it the door for a short driveway where you park close to the house, and the one that keeps the most usable width in a narrow opening.
Sectional doors
Horizontal panels that lift and run back along the ceiling on tracks. The best insulated option, the quietest to run, and the one that gives a flush, panelled face to the front of the house.
Side-hinged doors
A traditional pair of doors on hinges. Still the sensible answer when the garage is used as a workshop or a store rather than for a car, because you can open one leaf and walk in.

Measured to the structural opening
Garage openings are rarely square and rarely the size the previous door claimed. We measure the brick opening, the headroom above it and the side room either side before anything is ordered.
Insulation you will actually notice
If the garage is a gym, a workshop or attached to a room above, an insulated sectional door changes how cold that space is in January far more than anything you do to the walls.
Motorised, with a way in when the power fails
Every motorised door we fit has a manual release and, on most models, a battery back-up. A door that traps your car during a power cut is a false economy.
Safety edges and the old door taken away
New installations include the photocell and safety-edge protection the standards require, and we remove and dispose of the door that came off.

What the survey is actually checking
Five things decide which doors will physically fit your garage. It is worth knowing them before you start choosing colours.
Headroom and side room
A roller door needs room above the opening for the coil box. A sectional door needs headroom for the curve of the track and side room for the vertical rails. Low-headroom track kits exist for both — the survey establishes which you need.
Insulation and draughts
Insulated panels are rated by U-value, but in practice the seals matter as much: a brush seal at the head, rubber at the sides and a bottom seal that follows an uneven floor stop the draught that makes a garage cold.
Motors and controls
Most doors run on a chain or belt drive with two handsets. A belt drive is noticeably quieter, which is worth paying for if there is a bedroom over the garage. Wall buttons, keypads and phone control are all straightforward additions.
Security
Look for an anti-lift mechanism, a motor that resists being forced up and, on side-hinged doors, proper shoot bolts top and bottom. Insurers care about the lock; thieves care about the panel.
Finish
Powder-coated and woodgrain foil finishes cover the standard colour ranges plus close matches to most window frames. It is the cheapest way to make a tired frontage look deliberate again.

What kinds of garage door do you fit?
Insulated roller doors that coil into a box above the opening and give you the full drive-through width, and sectional doors that lift in horizontal panels, which suits a garage used as a room as well as a store. Both can be motorised with a remote.
Do garage doors need a survey?
Yes. The opening, the lintel and the fixing points all decide what can be installed, so a garage door is always measured on site before it is quoted.
Do you do outdoor shading too?
Yes — retractable awnings and louvred pergolas, both fitted by our own teams. These are surveyed on site because the fixing into the wall or the ground is what dictates the specification.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
