Vertical blinds
Vertical louvres draw fully back off the glass, which is the reason they remain the default for patio doors, bi-folds and wide picture windows — nothing hangs in the way of the handle. They also angle against low sun, so a west-facing room stays usable through a summer evening. Slats come in 89mm and 127mm widths and can be replaced individually if one is damaged.

Explained
Vertical blinds, explained
Vertical blinds use individual hanging louvres that tilt to control light and privacy, then draw neatly to one side when you want the window clear. They are a familiar choice for wider windows and glazed doors because the slats move around handles and give flexible coverage across the full drop. This filter includes plain, textured and patterned verticals, with some blackout options and some wipe-clean, waterproof-looking PVC styles for practical rooms. You will also see a few ranges tagged with other blind types, but the products shown here are vertical blind fabrics and finishes.
Vertical blinds suit straightforward, practical interiors, but the softer textured weaves and muted patterns in this filter also work well in living rooms where you do not want an overtly office look.
Best for
- Patio doors and other wide glazed openings
- Rooms where you want adjustable privacy without losing all the light
- Bathrooms, kitchens and conservatories where wipe-clean options help
- Bedrooms where blackout vertical fabrics may suit the window
Worth knowing
- Vertical blinds stack back to one side or split, so think about where you want the opening
- Fabric and PVC ranges handle light differently, so ask your advisor to show both at the window
- Pattern scale matters more on tall drops, especially on full-height doors
How to choose
- 1
Pick the right material for the room
This filter mixes soft fabric-look louvres with PVC and wipe-clean finishes. For bathrooms and other steamy spots, practical materials are often the easier option. For living spaces, textured fabric can look softer. Your advisor can hold samples up in your own light so the finish is easier to judge.
- 2
Think about light control, not just privacy
All verticals let you angle the louvres for a balance of light and screening, but some ranges here are also tagged blackout. If the room is for sleep or screen glare, ask to compare standard and blackout fabrics side by side so you can see the difference properly.
- 3
Use colour and pattern to suit the height of the window
There are quiet plains, subtle weaves, marble effects and a few bolder prints in this set. On a tall blind, vertical louvres make texture and pattern more noticeable than on a small window, so it is worth viewing the sample at full height rather than choosing from a swatch alone.
Vertical blinds: questions people ask
Are vertical blinds a good option for bay windows?
They can be, depending on the shape of the bay and how each section needs to open. Because each opening is measured on its own, your advisor can confirm what will work best on the day and how the blinds would stack and operate across the bay.
Do vertical blinds work well in conservatories?
They often do, especially on the side windows and doors where you want flexible shading through the day. Several ranges in this filter are tagged for conservatories, including practical wipe-clean options. Your advisor can help compare fabrics and finishes against the amount of sun the room gets.
Can I get patterned vertical blinds, or are they mostly plain?
This filter is not just plain neutrals. Alongside simple textured ranges, there are subtle woven designs, marble-effect finishes and some more decorative prints. Pattern tends to show more clearly over a full drop, so seeing the sample at your own window is usually the best way to judge it.
Are vertical blinds suitable for bathrooms?
They can be, particularly the PVC and wipe-clean styles shown in this filter. Those are often easier in steamy rooms than softer woven fabrics. If the window sits close to a shower or basin, your advisor can point you towards the more practical options for that position.
Can vertical blinds help with screen glare in a home office?
Yes. One of the useful things about vertical blinds is that you can tilt the louvres to soften glare without fully blocking the window. That makes them handy for desks and video calls, especially on larger windows where a single blind would otherwise leave the room too dark.

Vertical blinds: your questions answered
How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.
Why are verticals the usual choice for patio doors?
Because the louvres draw fully back off the glass, so nothing hangs in front of the handle and nobody has to duck under a raised blind to get out. They also angle against low sun, which is what makes a west-facing room usable on a summer evening.
One slat is damaged — do I need a whole new blind?
No. Vertical slats, hanger clips, bottom weights and chains are all supplied on their own, so a single damaged louvre is a part rather than a remake. If the range is discontinued we will tell you plainly rather than send a near-match.
What slat widths are there?
89mm and 127mm. The wider slat has fewer joins across a big span and stacks tighter; the narrower one suits smaller windows and a more traditional look.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
