Electric blinds
Motorised blinds earn their keep where reaching a cord is awkward or unsafe: roof windows, gable ends, tall stairwell glass and anything behind a sofa or a kitchen island. Most ranges run on a rechargeable battery motor, so no rewiring is needed, and can be grouped so a whole room closes on one command or on a timer.

Explained
Electric blinds, explained
Electric blinds are made-to-measure blinds fitted with a motor instead of a chain or wand, so you raise and lower them by remote, app or wall switch. On this filter you will find the motor option across most of our blind styles, roller, vertical, pleated, honeycomb, Day & Night and conservatory roof, plus a couple of curtain ranges that also offer an electric blind option within the same collection. Whatever the fabric or fold, the motorised version works the same way underneath, and can usually be grouped with neighbouring windows to move together on one command.
Because the motor sits behind the fabric, it does not change the look of a blind: the plain weaves, pleated honeycombs, stripes and patterned botanicals shown here read the same electric or manual, so choose the fabric on its own merits and add the motor for convenience.
Best for
- Conservatory roofs and other hard-to-reach windows
- Runs of bay, patio or bi-fold windows you want moving together
- Households with young children where a cord is best avoided
- Skylights or windows behind furniture that a wand cannot reach easily
- Anyone who prefers a single remote or app to individual cords
Worth knowing
- Battery motors still need charging or battery changes now and then; mains motors need a nearby supply, which your advisor will confirm on the day
- Grouping several windows onto one control usually needs planning at the quote stage, so mention it when the advisor visits
- Not every fabric or heading shown here comes as an electric option in every size, ask your advisor to confirm for your exact opening
How to choose
- 1
Start with the window, not the fabric
Conservatory roofs, high windows and long runs of glass are where a motor earns its keep. If the window is easy to reach, a manual chain may suit just as well.
- 2
Decide battery or mains at the quote
Battery units are simpler to fit and move; mains units suit a permanent installation. Your advisor will talk through which fits your windows and wiring.
- 3
Think about grouping early
If you want several blinds on one remote or app command, say so during the home visit so the order and control setup can be planned together.
Electric blinds: questions people ask
Can I have an electric blind in a conservatory roof and matching side windows?
Yes, several of our pleated and honeycomb ranges are offered as electric blinds for conservatory roofs alongside vertical or roller blinds for the side windows, and these can often be grouped so they move together. Your advisor will confirm which combinations suit your conservatory on the day.
Do electric blinds work with bay or bi-fold windows?
Yes, motorised options appear across bay window and bi-fold door ranges in this filter. Each opening is measured and fitted individually, and where you have several windows in one run, ask your advisor about grouping them onto a single control.
Will the motor add much bulk to the headrail?
Motorised headrails sit a little deeper than manual ones to house the mechanism, but this is generally not noticeable once fitted. Your advisor brings samples to your home so you can see the actual profile against your own window before ordering.
Can I mix electric and manual blinds in the same room?
Yes, it is common to motorise a hard-to-reach window, such as a conservatory roof or high opening, while keeping a manual chain on an easily reached window nearby. Both come with the same one-year guarantee regardless of control type.
Do curtains in this filter also come as electric blinds?
A few ranges shown here, such as those with a botanical or velvet look, are dual-listed: the same fabric collection offers both a curtain heading and a separate electric blind option. These are two distinct products in one fabric family rather than a motorised curtain.

Why our electric blinds service is right for you
Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit
We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.
Samples seen in your own light
A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.
Fitted by the people who sold it
Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.
One year of cover
Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.
Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Electric blinds: your questions answered
How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.
Do I need an electrician?
Usually not. Most of our motorised blinds run on a rechargeable battery motor in the headrail, charged with a lead every few months. Mains wiring is only worth it where a blind runs constantly or sits somewhere awkward to reach for charging.
How are they controlled?
A handset, a wall switch, or an app on your phone, and blinds can be grouped so a whole room or a run of windows moves on one command or on a timer. Your advisor will set the groups up with you on fitting day.
Is the motor covered by the guarantee?
Yes — the motor carries the same 1-year guarantee as the blind, and because we supply and fit it there is no manufacturer to chase if it fails.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
