Explained

Voile Roman blinds, explained

Voile Roman blinds combine the neat fold of a Roman blind with the lighter handle of voile fabric. In this filter, the ranges are all sheer or semi-sheer, mostly in white, off-white and pale silver tones, so they soften daylight rather than block it. When raised, the fabric stacks in horizontal folds; when lowered, it sits flatter than curtains and gives a gentler, dressed look than a plain roller. They suit rooms where privacy is wanted without making the window feel heavy, though your advisor will confirm on the day how each fabric sits at your particular window.

These voile Romans suit lighter interiors, from simple modern rooms to softer, layered schemes. They work especially well where you want the window to look finished without adding visual weight.

Best for

  • Softening bright daylight while keeping a light, airy feel
  • Rooms where a full curtain would feel too much at the window
  • Pairing with side curtains for a more dressed finish
  • Living spaces, bays and doors where a gentle filter is preferred

Worth knowing

  • These fabrics are for light filtering, not blackout
  • Because the cloth is sheer, evening privacy will be limited with lights on
  • A Roman stack sits at the top when raised, so allow for that in the window area

How to choose

  1. 1

    Pick the level of sheerness

These ranges are all light filtering, but the finish varies slightly. Plain voiles give the softest, simplest look, while woven textures and printed designs add a little more presence without making the blind feel heavy.

  2. 2

Think about tone as well as pattern

Most options here sit around white, off-white and pale silver. Crisp white looks cleaner and brighter; softer ivory and greyed tones can feel calmer and easier to mix with painted walls, woodwork and existing curtains.

  3. 3

Decide if the blind will stand alone

A voile Roman can work by itself where you want softened light and a dressed window without much bulk. If you need more privacy or darkness later, many customers use a blind in the reveal with curtains fitted outside it.

Voile Roman blinds: questions people ask

Are voile Roman blinds private enough for front rooms?

In daylight, a voile Roman blind will soften the view and give some screening, but it remains sheer. Once the room is lit in the evening, privacy reduces. If the window is overlooked, your advisor can talk you through whether this sort of fabric is enough for the room.

Do voile Roman blinds work in bay windows?

They often do, and some ranges in this filter are shown for bay windows. Each opening in a bay is measured on its own, which matters because bays are rarely perfectly square. Your advisor measures each section themselves, so the fit is taken care of as part of the order.

Can I have voile Roman blinds in a kitchen?

They can suit a kitchen where you want a softer look and filtered daylight, but placement matters. Voile is a light fabric, so your advisor will confirm on the day whether the chosen window is suitable, especially if it is close to the cooking area.

What is the difference between a voile Roman blind and voile curtains?

They use similar sheer fabrics, but they hang differently. A Roman blind lifts into horizontal folds and sits within the window area, while voile curtains fall in longer lengths and can look softer and fuller. The better choice depends on how much fabric you want around the window.

Can voile Roman blinds be combined with curtains?

Yes, and it is a common way to get a softer, layered finish. A blind can sit in the reveal while curtains are fitted outside it. If you are considering both, your advisor can bring the full sample range and hold fabrics together at the window so you can compare them in your own light.

Why our voile roman blinds service is right for you

01

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit

We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.

02

Samples seen in your own light

A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.

03

Fitted by the people who sold it

Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.

04

One year of cover

Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.

Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Voile Roman blinds: your questions answered

How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.

Is fitting included in the price?

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Who measures the windows?

Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.

What guarantee do I get?

A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.

Which type of blind suits which room?

Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
