Explained

Medium Wood, explained

Medium Wood brings together blinds finished in warm, mid-toned wood shades, from honey oak to soft golden tan, sitting between pale natural wood and dark walnut. Most are wooden or wood-effect venetian blinds with horizontal slats, in real timber, faux wood (PVC-style) or wood-toned metal, so you can pick the material to suit the room while keeping a similar tone. A few plain fabric roller, vertical and textured screen blinds also appear here, chosen for their warm grey-brown colourways rather than a slatted finish. Your advisor brings physical samples so you can check the exact tone against your own walls and furniture before ordering.

Suits kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms with oak, pine or other mid-brown furniture and flooring, where a stark white or near-black slat would feel out of step with the rest of the room.

Best for

  • Kitchens and living rooms wanting a warm wood tone without stark white or dark walnut
  • Bay windows and bedrooms where wide slats in honey oak or golden tan suit the furniture
  • Anyone mixing wooden or wood-effect venetians with existing oak, pine or mid-brown furniture
  • Conservatories and dining rooms taking a wood-toned metal venetian instead of real timber

Worth knowing

  • A few ranges here are plain fabric roller, vertical or screen blinds shown in grey or brown tones rather than true wood slats, so check the look description, not just the filter name
  • Real wood slats are best kept out of bathrooms and away from hobs; PVC, faux wood or metal venetians are the wipeable, moisture-tolerant choice in those rooms

How to choose

  1. 1

    Real wood or faux wood

Real wood venetians give the truest grain and warmth but need dry rooms. Faux wood and PVC copy the same medium tones and cope with steam and splashes, so are the usual pick for kitchens and bathrooms.

  2. 2

    Slat width and finish

Wide slats give a bolder, more linear look; narrower metal venetian slats sit closer to a traditional office-style blind. Your advisor can hold samples against your own light to check the tone.

  3. 3

    Match or contrast

A medium wood tone can echo existing flooring or furniture, or sit as a warm contrast against white frames. Take a sample home and view it morning and evening before deciding.

Medium Wood: questions people ask

Will the medium wood tone match my existing furniture exactly?

Wood and wood-effect finishes vary quite a bit between honey, oak and mid-brown, so an exact match isn't something we promise. Your advisor brings the sample range to your home and holds fabrics against your own furniture and flooring in your own light, so you can judge the tone properly before ordering.

Are the medium wood blinds in this filter all real wood?

No. The filter groups anything with a medium wood-toned look, which includes real wood venetians, faux wood (PVC-effect) venetians, wood-toned metal venetians, and a couple of plain fabric roller or vertical blinds shown in brown tones. Check the description on each range, or ask your advisor which is which.

Can I get a medium wood venetian for a bathroom?

Real wood is best avoided in bathrooms because of steam and splashes. Faux wood, PVC or metal venetians in the same medium wood tone give a similar look and are wipeable, so are the usual recommendation for bathrooms and other wet rooms.

Do wide-slat and narrow-slat wood blinds come in the same tone?

Several ranges in this tone are available across different slat widths, from wide wooden slats to narrower metal venetian slats. The overall wood tone stays similar, but slat width changes how bold or fine the finish looks. Your advisor can show samples of both.

Can medium wood blinds be motorised?

Yes, where the range and mechanism allow it. Motorisation is available as battery or mains powered, with remote or app control, and can be grouped to move several blinds together. It carries the same one-year guarantee as the blind itself.

1. Roller and brackets

The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.

Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

Why our medium wood service is right for you

01

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit

We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.

02

Samples seen in your own light

A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.

03

Fitted by the people who sold it

Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.

04

One year of cover

Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.

Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Medium Wood: your questions answered

How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.

Is fitting included in the price?

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Who measures the windows?

Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.

What guarantee do I get?

A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.

Which type of blind suits which room?

Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
