Pleated blinds
Pleated blinds fold into crisp, slim concertina pleats and stack down to very little, which makes them the practical answer for conservatories, shaped windows and anywhere a bulky headrail would look wrong. Reflective backings are available for glass roofs, where the problem is heat rather than privacy.

Explained
Pleated blinds, explained
Pleated blinds are made from a crisp, concertina-folded fabric that stacks into a neat, narrow band at the top (and bottom, if you choose top down bottom up) rather than rolling. The fold holds its shape without a rigid honeycomb cell, so the fabric sits flatter against the glass, which suits angled and shaped windows well. Impress offers them plain or with a fine woven texture, in neutral, muted and a handful of brighter tones, and they can be corded, wand-operated or motorised depending on the window.
Suits plain, understated interiors where the interest is in texture and light rather than pattern - the neutral and muted tones shown here sit comfortably in conservatories, kitchens and bedrooms alike.
Best for
- Conservatory roofs and shaped or angled glazing
- French doors and bay windows where a flat, low-profile fabric is wanted
- Kitchens and bedrooms where a plain, unfussy texture suits
- Skylights and gable ends alongside a matching side window
Worth knowing
- Some ranges shown here are actually honeycomb (cellular) fabric tagged as pleated - the fold looks similar but the cell traps air rather than folding flat
- A few results, such as Newton, are semi-sheer patterned fabrics rather than the plain concertina finish most of the range shows
How to choose
- 1
Where it's going
Conservatory roofs, bay windows and French doors are the most common fits here; your advisor will confirm which fabrics are suitable for a sloped or vertical position on the day.
- 2
Plain or textured
Most of these fabrics are plain with a fine ribbed or woven texture rather than a print, so choosing is more about tone and finish than pattern.
- 3
How it's operated
Cord, wand or motorised control all appear across this range; for conservatory roofs or hard-to-reach glazing, ask your advisor about motorisation.
Pleated blinds: questions people ask
Can pleated blinds be fitted top down bottom up?
Several of the ranges shown here, including Lustre, Bricks and Neve, are listed as Top Down Bottom Up as well as pleated, so the fabric can be dropped from the top for privacy while keeping the bottom in place for light. Your advisor will confirm which fabrics in the range support this on the day.
Do pleated blinds come in patterned fabrics?
Most of the range is plain, chosen for its texture rather than a print, but a few options such as Newton use a fine trellis-style pattern in a semi-sheer weave. If you want a specific look, ask your advisor to bring the relevant samples to your appointment.
Are pleated blinds suitable for a bathroom?
It depends on the fabric. The pleated ranges shown here are mostly woven or textured fabrics rather than wipeable finishes, so your advisor will confirm on the day whether a particular pleated fabric is right for a bathroom or whether a wipeable roller or PVC venetian would suit better.
Can pleated blinds be motorised for a conservatory roof?
Yes, motorisation is offered across this range and is a common choice for conservatory roofs and other hard-to-reach glazing, with battery or mains power and remote or app control. The motor carries the same one-year guarantee as the blind.
What is the difference between pleated blinds and Perfect Fit blinds?
Pleated describes the fold of the fabric itself; Perfect Fit describes a frame that clips into the window without drilling. A few ranges here, such as Capri and Trio, are offered in both forms, so the same fabric can be fitted either way depending on your window and door type.

1. Top rail that moves
On a top-down, bottom-up blind both rails move, so you can cover the lower panes for privacy and keep the sky.

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit
We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.
Samples seen in your own light
A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.
Fitted by the people who sold it
Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.
One year of cover
Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.
Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Pleated blinds: your questions answered
How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.
Can pleated blinds fit an awkward shape?
Yes — that is one of their strengths. Because the fabric folds into a slim concertina, pleated blinds can be made for angled, arched and triangular windows that a roller cannot cover neatly. Your advisor takes the angles on site.
Are they good in a conservatory?
They are the usual choice for conservatory side glass: slim headrails, small stacks, and reflective backings that push heat back out through a glass roof. Roof panes themselves are quoted separately after the frames have been seen.
What is the difference between pleated and honeycomb?
A pleated blind is a single folded sheet. A honeycomb blind folds into sealed cells that trap air, which makes it warmer and a little thicker. If insulation matters, choose honeycomb; if the priority is a slim, crisp blind on a shaped window, pleated is the one.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
