Explained

Dining Room, explained

This filter gathers blinds tagged for use in a dining room, mostly roller blinds in plain or subtly textured fabrics, alongside a run of vertical blinds and one woodgrain-effect metal venetian. Many of the roller ranges come in blackout or thermal fabric as well as a standard weave, and most are cordless with a wipeable finish, which suits a room that sees spilled drinks and steam from an adjoining kitchen. A handful of listings are replacement slats rather than complete blinds, useful if you are topping up an existing PVC or vertical blind rather than starting from scratch.

Suits dining spaces that lean neutral and understated, from pale greys and creams through to woodgrain metal venetians, with texture doing the work rather than pattern.

Best for

  • Open-plan dining spaces with patio doors or a run of windows facing a kitchen or garden
  • Households wanting wipeable, easy-clean blinds close to a table or serving area
  • Rooms that also catch morning sun and need a blackout or thermal option for comfort
  • Dining areas doubling as a homework or playroom, where cordless control matters

Worth knowing

  • Vertical and metal venetian options here are tagged for conservatories and bedrooms rather than dining rooms specifically, so a chunk of what you see is roller blinds carried over from adjoining room categories
  • Replacement slats and parts appear in this filter too, so it is not exclusively finished blinds

How to choose

  1. 1

    Match the light

A dining room with a big glazed door or bay often needs a thermal or blackout roller to cut glare at meal times; a study-lit corner may only need a plain woven fabric.

  2. 2

    Think about wipeability

If the blind sits near the table, a PVC or easy-wipe roller copes better with splashes and steam than a fabric vertical or textile louvre.

  3. 3

Match the mechanism to the door

For patio and French doors leading off a dining room, verticals or a track-mounted option handle a wide opening more practically than a single roller.

Dining Room: questions people ask

Are these blinds suitable for a dining room with a patio or French door?

Several of the ranges shown here, including the vertical blinds, are built for wide openings and doors as well as windows. Your advisor will confirm which mechanism suits your particular door on the day, since width and clearance both affect the choice.

Can I get a blackout blind for a dining room that gets strong evening sun?

Yes, a good number of the roller blinds in this filter are available in blackout as well as thermal fabric, so you can dim the room for evening meals or screen glare from low sun without losing the daytime look.

Will a fabric blind near the dining table mark easily?

Fabric verticals and woven textures can be wiped gently but are not designed for heavy splashes. If the blind sits close to where food is served, a PVC or easy-wipe roller fabric copes much better with everyday marks.

Why do I see replacement slats listed alongside dining room blinds?

Some ranges in this filter, such as Havana PVC and Gravity, list their replacement slats as a separate item alongside the finished blind. These are spare parts rather than a new style, and your advisor can order them if an existing blind needs a slat replaced.

Do these blinds come in warmer, more traditional tones for a dining room?

Most of the current range leans towards neutral whites, creams, greys and one woodgrain-effect metal venetian. If you are after something bolder or more traditional, ask your advisor, as the home visit brings the full sample range beyond what is shown online.

1. Roller and brackets

The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.

Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

Why our dining room service is right for you

01

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit

We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.

02

Samples seen in your own light

A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.

03

Fitted by the people who sold it

Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.

04

One year of cover

Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.

Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Dining Room: your questions answered

How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.

Is fitting included in the price?

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Who measures the windows?

Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.

What guarantee do I get?

A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.

Which type of blind suits which room?

Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
