Explained
Striped blinds, explained
Striped blinds cover any made-to-measure blind, or blind-and-curtain fabric, where the pattern reads as a line rather than a solid block of colour. That can mean the natural horizontal stripe of a venetian or pleated blind when its slats or folds are closed, a printed or woven stripe on a roman blind or curtain fabric, or a finer textured weave that gives a subtle striped effect up close. This page brings together both types, so it is worth checking a sample before ordering to see how bold or subtle the line will look on your own window.
Suits pared-back, contemporary interiors that want a graphic line, as well as more traditional rooms where a fine woven stripe adds texture without pattern overload.
Best for
- Kitchens and dining rooms where a crisp, graphic look suits open shelving and hard surfaces
- Living rooms and bedrooms taking a striped roman blind or curtain as the main pattern in the scheme
- Conservatories and bi-fold doors where venetian or pleated blinds give a natural fine stripe when the slats or pleats are closed
- Bathrooms, using a striped-effect PVC or faux-wood venetian rather than real wood
Worth knowing
- Some ranges here are stripe-like textures (woven slubs, broken zigzag weaves, honeycomb pleats) rather than a bold printed stripe, so ask for a sample before assuming a strong graphic line
- Venetian and pleated blinds only show a stripe when the slats or pleats are in their closed or folded position; tilting or raising them changes the look considerably
How to choose
- 1
Decide how bold you want the line
A tailored stripe such as a two-tone blue and white weave reads very differently from a subtle tonal texture. Look at a sample in your own room before deciding how much contrast you want.
- 2
Match the mechanism to the window
Venetian and pleated blinds give a natural stripe from their slats or folds; woven curtains and roman blinds carry a printed or woven stripe instead. Your advisor can confirm which suits the opening.
- 3
Think about direction
Horizontal stripes from slats or pleats sit differently in a room to the vertical stripes on some curtain and roman blind fabrics. Consider how each will read against your existing furniture and walls.
Striped blinds: questions people ask
Will the stripe look the same closed and open on a venetian blind?
No. The stripe effect on a venetian blind comes from the slats and ladder tape lining up when the blind is down and the slats are shut. Tilt them open and the horizontal lines soften into filtered light instead of a solid stripe, so bear this in mind if you want the pattern visible most of the time.
Can I get a striped blind that is also blackout?
Some striped ranges shown here are offered as blackout curtains or blackout blinds, so a fully light-blocking striped option is often possible. Your advisor will bring the current sample range to your appointment so you can check which striped fabrics come with a blackout lining.
Do striped blinds work well in a bay or bi-fold door run?
Yes, several of these ranges are set up for bay windows, bi-fold doors or French doors. Because each opening is measured and made individually, the stripe can be lined up consistently across a run of blinds, and motorisation can group them to move together if you would like that.
Are woven stripe curtains different to care for than a plain fabric?
Not particularly. Most curtains, striped or plain, are recommended for dry cleaning rather than washing, and the textured weaves seen in some of these ranges do not need any special treatment beyond that. Your advisor can confirm care details for the specific fabric you choose.
Can I mix a striped blind with plain curtains, or the other way round?
Yes, that is a common approach. A striped venetian or pleated blind fitted in the reveal with plain curtains hung outside it, or a plain blind with striped curtains, both work well and let you bring in pattern without covering the whole window in it.

1. Roller and brackets
The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.
Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

Why our striped blinds service is right for you
Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit
We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.
Samples seen in your own light
A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.
Fitted by the people who sold it
Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.
One year of cover
Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.
Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Striped blinds: your questions answered
How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
