Explained
Black blinds, explained
Black blinds gather the blinds, and a handful of related accessories, that come in a black or near-black finish. On this filter that spans roller, vertical, venetian and Perfect Fit blinds, in materials from PVC and metal to pleated and honeycomb fabrics. Some are flat, solid black; others carry a fine woven texture, a pinstripe edge or a slight sheen, so the exact look varies by range. Many are also blackout or wipeable, which matters more than the colour itself if you're choosing for a bedroom or a bathroom. Your advisor can bring the black options relevant to your room and hold them against your own window.
Black suits rooms with a contemporary, tailored feel, and works well as a grounding contrast against pale walls or woodwork; it's equally at home as a near-black backdrop in a more classic scheme.
Best for
- Rooms wanting a strong, tailored look, such as living rooms and dining rooms
- Bedrooms where a darker shade helps with a better night's sleep
- Cinema rooms or studies where a bold, low-light backdrop suits the space
- Bathrooms and kitchens, using the wipeable vertical or Perfect Fit styles rather than real wood
Worth knowing
- Black is often one of several colourways on a fabric range, alongside cream, grey or stone, so check the specific shade shown on your chosen style
- Real wood venetians are best kept out of bathrooms and away from hobs; the PVC, metal or vertical options are the wipeable, waterproof choice for those rooms
How to choose
- 1
Match it to the mechanism
Black turns up across roller, vertical, venetian and Perfect Fit blinds, plus replacement slats for existing ones. Decide on the mechanism and room first, then look at which black finish it offers.
- 2
Think about light and finish
Some black options are flat and matt, others have a woven texture, a fine pinstripe edge or a slight sheen. If you want the room genuinely dark, check whether the range is also listed as a blackout blind.
- 3
Ask for a sample against your window
Black can read as deep charcoal or true black depending on the fabric and your own light. A free sample, or your advisor holding it against the glass, settles this before you order.
Black blinds: questions people ask
Will a black blind make a small room feel darker overall?
It affects the window itself more than the wider room, since the blind is only dark when closed and most people leave blinds part-open through the day. If you're nervous about the effect, ask for a sample and hold it against your own wall and window light before deciding.
Are black blinds harder to keep looking clean than pale ones?
Marks tend to show differently rather than more often. On PVC, vertical and Perfect Fit styles a wipe with a damp cloth deals with most marks, and dust is generally less visible on a dark finish than a pale one.
Can I get black in a blackout fabric for a bedroom?
Several of the ranges shown here, including the vertical and Easy Stick honeycomb styles, are listed as blackout as well as black, which suits a bedroom aiming for a genuinely dark room. Your advisor can confirm which specific black fabric gives the fullest blackout.
Do black blinds fade or change colour over time near a sunny window?
This depends on the fabric and how much direct sun the window gets, so it's worth asking your advisor about the specific range you're considering. They can talk you through the finish shown for your chosen product on the day.
Can I replace just the slats on a black venetian rather than the whole blind?
Several ranges here are listed as replacement slats, covering venetian and vertical blinds, so an existing black blind can often be refreshed without remaking the whole thing. Ring the office to check whether your model is covered.
How it's made

1. Roller and brackets
The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.
Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

Why our black blinds service is right for you
Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit
We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.
Samples seen in your own light
A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.
Fitted by the people who sold it
Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.
One year of cover
Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.
Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Black blinds: your questions answered
How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
