Explained

Floral blinds, explained

This filter gathers ranges that include a floral or botanical design somewhere in the collection, from fine etched line-drawings and trailing leaf prints to bolder watercolour blooms. Most appear on curtains, especially eyelet and pencil pleat in bay, bedroom, door and kitchen settings, though a handful of blinds are here too, including printed vertical blinds and plainer skylight and roller options from the same ranges. Because several ranges pair a patterned colourway with a plain one, what counts as floral can mean the whole range or just one option within it. As with all fabrics, samples are free to order and your advisor brings the full range to hold against your own windows.

Suits homes leaning towards soft, layered or country-influenced interiors, from fine etched botanicals in bedrooms to bolder watercolour leaf prints on bay window curtains.

Best for

  • Bedrooms and living rooms where a botanical print gives a soft focal point
  • Kitchens and bay windows where curtains carry a trailing leaf or floral design
  • Bathrooms and roof windows where a plain, muted colourway from the same range is wanted instead of pattern
  • Patio doors dressed with a printed vertical blind rather than curtains

Worth knowing

  • A good number of ranges in this filter are plain weaves with no floral print at all – they're grouped here because a sister colourway in the same range is floral, so check the actual swatch photo before assuming pattern
  • Scale and colour vary hugely, from fine etched line-drawings to large watercolour blooms, so the same range name can look quite different depending on which colourway you pick

How to choose

  1. 1

    Check which colourway is floral

Several ranges here list a plain option alongside a patterned one. Look at the specific colourway shown, not just the range name, and ask your advisor which colourways in a range are floral.

  2. 2

Match the scale to the room

Large, painterly prints suit bigger windows and bay curtains; fine, scattered sprigs and line-drawn botanicals work well on smaller openings or where you want texture rather than a bold statement.

  3. 3

    Think about where it's hung

Curtains carry most of the bolder florals in this filter, while blinds – especially skylight and vertical – tend to offer plainer or more muted botanical takes suited to bathrooms and roof windows.

Floral blinds: questions people ask

Are all the fabrics under floral blinds actually patterned?

Not every one. A number of ranges in this filter include a plain, unpatterned colourway alongside a floral one, so they appear here because part of the range is floral rather than the whole thing. Your advisor can show you exactly which colourway carries the print.

Can I get a floral fabric as both a blind and matching curtains?

Several ranges here are offered across both blinds and curtains, including blackout curtain and blind pairings, so a matching or coordinating look across a room is often possible. Bring your room in mind to the appointment and your advisor will confirm what's available in that particular range.

Do floral prints work on roller or roof window blinds, or mainly curtains?

In this filter, bolder florals appear mostly on curtains, while blinds such as skylight and vertical formats tend to carry plainer or more muted colourways from the same range. If you want a printed blind specifically, mention this at your appointment so the advisor can point you to the right samples.

Will the floral pattern look the same on a vertical blind as it does on curtains?

Not necessarily. A print shown on wide vertical louvres reads differently to the same design gathered into curtain folds, since the fabric is flat rather than pleated. Seeing the actual sample against your window, as your advisor does at the appointment, gives a truer sense of the effect.

Are floral fabrics suitable for a child's bedroom or a room with cords?

The fabric choice itself doesn't affect cord safety. Any corded blind ordered in a floral print, like any other, is fitted with the required child-safety devices, and cordless or motorised options are available if preferred, particularly recommended where there are cots or young children.

1. Roller and brackets

The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.

Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

Why our floral blinds service is right for you

01

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit

We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.

02

Samples seen in your own light

A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.

03

Fitted by the people who sold it

Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.

04

One year of cover

Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.

Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Floral blinds: your questions answered

How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.

Is fitting included in the price?

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Who measures the windows?

Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.

What guarantee do I get?

A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.

Which type of blind suits which room?

Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
