Explained
Bay window blinds, explained
Bay windows bring their own set of measuring and fitting questions, since you're dealing with two or three angled sections rather than one flat opening. This page gathers fabric and design ranges from across our roller, Roman, pleated, vertical and vertical-style collections, plus a good number of curtain fabrics, all of which work in a bay when made to the angles involved. Some are shown here as plain wipe-clean weaves, others as patterned or textured fabrics for curtains and Roman blinds. Whatever the look, your advisor measures each section of the bay separately on the day, since the angles and drops rarely match exactly, and confirms whether a single continuous track or individual blinds per window suits your particular bay.
Suits period bays where pinch pleat or pencil pleat curtains on a bendable track sit well against traditional proportions, and also more contemporary bays where plain pleated or roller fabrics in a single continuous colourway keep the look understated.
Best for
- Bay windows with two or three angled sections needing blinds cut to each opening individually
- Households wanting to mix a fitted blind in the reveal with curtains hung outside the bay on a bendable track
- Bedrooms and living rooms where a bay is the main feature and light control matters at different times of day
- Anyone wanting a single fabric that can be repeated across all sections of the bay for a uniform look
Worth knowing
- Corner posts and angled returns can restrict which headings or mechanisms sit neatly in a bay; your advisor will confirm on the day
- A run of separate blinds across a bay rarely lines up perfectly with continuous curtains, so decide the combination before ordering
- Motorised options in a bay may need grouping to a single control; ask your advisor whether that suits the layout
How to choose
- 1
Decide blind, curtain or both
A blind fitted into each recessed section keeps the sightline clean; curtains on a track outside the bay soften the whole wall. Many customers do both, blind for daily light control and curtains for warmth and framing.
- 2
Think about the angle count
A square bay with two angled sides behaves differently to a curved or five-sided bay. Your advisor measures every section on its own, so the quote reflects the actual shape rather than an average width.
- 3
Match fabric across sections
If you want one continuous pattern or colour running across all the windows in the bay, mention it at the appointment so cutting and hanging keep the repeat aligned from one section to the next.
Bay window blinds: questions people ask
Can one blind cover the whole bay, or does each section need its own?
Bay windows are almost always fitted with a separate blind for each section, since the angles between panes mean a single blind can't sit flush across the whole bay. Your advisor measures each opening on its own and can advise whether matching fabrics across the sections will look continuous.
Will curtains hang properly around the corners of a bay?
Yes, curtains are hung on a bendable track shaped to follow the bay, which lets the fabric wrap around the angled corners rather than stopping short. Poles are less common in bays for this reason, though your advisor can talk through the options for your particular shape.
Can I motorise blinds fitted into a bay?
Motorisation is available on suitable blind types fitted into bay sections, and separate motors can usually be grouped so all the sections move together from one remote or app control. Whether that suits your bay's wiring or layout is something your advisor confirms at the appointment.
Is a bay window more expensive to fit than a single window?
There's no set answer, since it depends on how many sections the bay has, the size of each one, and the product and fabric chosen. Your advisor measures every section and gives a written price itemised per window, so you can see exactly what each part of the bay costs.
Do all the blinds in a bay need to be the same product?
No, some customers choose the same blind repeated across every section for a uniform look, while others prefer a taller centre window treated differently to the two angled sides. Either approach is measured and quoted section by section at the appointment.

1. Roller and brackets
The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.
Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

Why our bay window blinds service is right for you
Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit
We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.
Samples seen in your own light
A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.
Fitted by the people who sold it
Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.
One year of cover
Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.
Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Bay window blinds: your questions answered
How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.
Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
