Better Sleep Blinds, explained
Better Sleep Blinds is our filter for blinds made in blackout or heavyweight thermal fabrics, the sort that stop most light getting round the edges and through the weave rather than just softening it. On this page you will mostly find roller blinds in plain or subtly textured fabrics, along with vertical blinds and their replacement slats, in white, cream, grey and black shades. Many are also cordless and wipeable, which suits bedrooms and children's rooms where a fully dark, easy-clean blind matters more than pattern.
Plain and lightly textured neutrals dominate this range, from soft white and cream through to grey and black, so it suits understated bedrooms and quieter interiors rather than bold pattern.

How to choose

Roller or vertical
A blackout roller blind fitted close to the recess gives the most even coverage. Vertical blinds in blackout fabric reduce light but the individual louvres mean some will still creep through at the joins.

Cordless where it matters
Several of these fabrics come as cordless blinds, which your advisor may suggest for a child's room, alongside a fully dark fabric.

Fabric weight and finish
Look at whether the fabric is a flat vinyl-backed roller or a woven textured cloth. Both block light differently and your advisor can show samples against your own window.
Better Sleep Blinds: questions people ask
Will a blind from this filter make a room completely dark?
Blackout fabric blocks light passing through the material itself, but some light can still show around the edges of a roller blind or between the louvres of a vertical blind, depending on the window and how the blind is fitted. Your advisor will look at your specific opening and suggest the fitting method that reduces this most.
Are these blinds suitable for a nursery?
Several of the fabrics shown here are also cordless, which is what we would usually point towards for a child's room. If cords are unavoidable for the chosen style, the blind is supplied with the required child-safety fittings and the fitter shows you how they work.
Can I get these in a colour to match my room rather than the neutrals shown?
The examples here are shown in the shades currently available for each design, mostly white, cream, grey and black. Ask your advisor about the full range for a particular fabric when they visit with samples.
Do replacement slats in this filter block light the same as a full new blind?
Replacement slats are made in the same blackout or thermal fabric as the original vertical blind, so they match the light-blocking performance of that design. They are meant for refreshing louvres on an existing headrail rather than changing the overall look.
Is a blackout blind also good for keeping a room warm or cool?
The heavier fabrics used for better sleep are often also listed as thermal, which can help even out a room's temperature, though it depends on the specific fabric. Your advisor can point out which of the samples are thermal as well as blackout.

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
