Explained

Conservatory, explained

Conservatory blinds have to cope with more sun, more heat and often more glass than any other room, so this filter leans heavily on venetians, verticals and roller blinds in wipeable, waterproof or thermal fabrics. You will see plain and lightly textured designs in neutral shades rather than heavy patterns, plus woodgrain-effect metal venetians. Many are also blackout or thermal, useful where a conservatory roof or gable end lets in a lot of heat and glare. Replacement slat packs sit alongside the made-to-measure blinds for existing vertical blinds needing a refresh.

Suits conservatories fitted out in a neutral, understated palette, where the blind's job is shade and heat control rather than pattern or colour.

Best for

  • Conservatory walls and roof windows exposed to direct sun
  • Rooms that need shade and heat control rather than a decorative statement
  • Households wanting wipeable, waterproof fabrics near doors and radiators
  • Replacing worn slats on an existing vertical blind

Worth knowing

  • Most designs here are plain or subtly textured, so pattern lovers may find the choice narrower than in other rooms
  • Two of the sample results are replacement slat packs, not full blinds, worth checking before ordering

How to choose

  1. 1

    Match blind to aspect

A south-facing conservatory roof or wall usually calls for a thermal or blackout fabric to cut glare and heat; a shaded aspect can get away with a lighter, plainer weave.

  2. 2

    Think about the whole room

Conservatories often need roof blinds, wall blinds and door blinds working together; your advisor can talk through which types suit each opening.

  3. 3

    Choose fabric for the conditions

Condensation and humidity are common near conservatory glass, so a wipeable PVC or easy-clean roller fabric tends to hold up better than a delicate weave.

Conservatory: questions people ask

Can these blinds go on a conservatory roof as well as the walls?

Some of the roller and venetian designs shown here are suited to walls and doors rather than a sloped roof. Roof sections usually need a specific pleated or roof-blind system, which your advisor will confirm on the day based on the pitch and size of your roof.

Why are so many of these blinds also listed as thermal or blackout?

Conservatories tend to run hotter and brighter than other rooms, so many of the fabrics stocked here are woven or backed to help block glare and reduce heat gain, alongside their light-blocking properties, rather than being sold purely for darkness.

Will a fabric roller blind cope with condensation on conservatory glass?

The waterproof and easy-wipe fabrics in this filter are chosen to withstand damp conditions and can be wiped down if condensation forms. A PVC or vinyl-based roller or vertical blind is generally the more robust choice for a consistently humid conservatory.

What are the replacement slat packs for?

A small number of results, such as the Havana and Gravity replacement slats, are packs for an existing vertical blind rather than a new made-to-measure blind. They are useful if your current louvres are faded, torn or missing, without needing to replace the whole blind.

Do conservatory blinds need to be motorised?

Not necessarily, but conservatories often have high roof sections or awkward reaches, where remote or app control avoids using a pole. Your advisor can go through battery and mains options and show you how grouping several blinds to one control would work.

On a top-down, bottom-up blind both rails move, so you can cover the lower panes for privacy and keep the sky.

Why our conservatory service is right for you

01

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit

We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.

02

Samples seen in your own light

A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.

03

Fitted by the people who sold it

Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.

04

One year of cover

Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.

Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Conservatory: your questions answered

How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.

Is fitting included in the price?

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Who measures the windows?

Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.

What guarantee do I get?

A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.

Which type of blind suits which room?

Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
