Explained

Children's blinds, explained

Children's blinds on this page are the same roller and vertical ranges used elsewhere in the shop, filtered down to those tagged as suited to a child's room: mostly blackout fabrics, cordless or wipeable options, and a few waterproof PVC ranges for bathrooms shared with little ones. Rather than a separate collection, it is a practical shortlist built around safety and easy care. You will see roller blinds for straightforward windows, vertical blinds for wider openings, and the odd set of replacement slats mixed in for existing blinds in the same range.

Fabrics in this filter lean towards plain, neutral or softly textured neutrals rather than novelty prints, so they suit a calmer, grown-with-them scheme as much as a nursery.

Best for

  • Nurseries and toddler rooms where a daytime nap matters
  • Bedrooms shared by siblings of different ages
  • Playrooms and children's bathrooms that need a wipeable finish
  • Households wanting cordless or motorised operation as standard
  • Bedrooms where blackout for early summer mornings is the priority

Worth knowing

  • Most ranges here are roller and vertical blinds with a blackout option, rather than a single dedicated 'children's' product
  • A few results are replacement slats (spares for an existing blind), not new blinds, so check the category before ordering
  • Corded options still appear in the list; ask your advisor for cordless or motorised if there are young children or cots in the room

How to choose

  1. 1

    Start with blackout

Look for ranges marked as blackout and Better Sleep, which block light for naps and early mornings rather than just softening it.

  2. 2

    Check the operation

Favour cordless or ask about motorising, especially for cots and toddler rooms, so there is nothing hanging loose near the window.

  3. 3

    Match the room's use

In bathrooms or playrooms with spills, pick an easy-wipe or waterproof fabric such as PVC rather than a standard woven roller.

Children's blinds: questions people ask

Are all the blinds in this filter safe for a child's bedroom?

Every corded blind Impress supplies comes fitted with the child-safety devices required in the UK, and the fitter shows you how they work. Where there is a cot or small children in the room, cordless or motorised versions from this list are usually the better starting point, and your advisor can point these out.

What does 'Better Sleep Blinds' mean on some of these ranges?

It marks fabrics chosen for blocking light well, which suits blackout for naps or early summer mornings. It is a fabric feature rather than a separate product, so it appears alongside roller, vertical and other blind types in this list.

Why do some results show 'Replacement Slats' rather than a full blind?

These are spare vertical louvres for an existing blind in that range, not a new made-to-measure blind. If you are furnishing a child's room from scratch, look for the roller or vertical blind version of the same name instead.

Can I get a children's blind that also blocks light and wipes clean?

Yes, several ranges here combine a blackout fabric with an easy-wipe or waterproof finish, which suits a nursery that doubles as a bathroom-adjacent room or simply a child prone to sticky fingers on the fabric.

Is vertical or roller better for a child's room?

Both appear in this filter with blackout options. Roller blinds sit flatter against the window and suit smaller openings, while vertical blinds can cover wider windows or patio-style openings; your advisor can confirm what fits the room on the day.

1. Roller and brackets

The fabric winds onto a tube held by two small brackets, inside the recess or on the wall above it. Which one suits your window is settled when it's measured.

Your advisor brings samples of every option to your window, so you can see and feel them before you choose.

01

Cut to your window, not trimmed to fit

We measure each recess on site and allow for handles, tiles, sills and tilt-and-turn frames before anything is made.

02

Samples seen in your own light

A fabric that looks warm under showroom lighting can read grey at home. Your advisor brings the range to your rooms so you judge it against your walls.

Our own fitter installs, squares up and takes the packaging away. Nothing is subcontracted out and there is no surprise charge at the end.

04

One year of cover

Fabric, mechanism and fitting are covered by our 1-year guarantee. If a chain or a bracket fails, we come back out and put it right.

Finance options available. We offer flexible ways to pay so a whole-house refresh doesn't have to land in one go. Your advisor will talk you through what's available at your appointment.

Children's blinds: your questions answered

How this type behaves in a real room, plus how measuring, fitting and the guarantee work.

Is fitting included in the price?

Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.

Who measures the windows?

Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.

What guarantee do I get?

A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.

Which type of blind suits which room?

Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
