Roof / Skylight, explained
The Roof / Skylight filter brings together blinds made specifically for angled roof windows, such as those in loft conversions, box rooms and conservatory roofs, rather than standard vertical windows. The ranges currently shown here are blackout fabrics, fitted using a cordless mechanism, so they're built for rooms where you want to cut light out fully rather than just soften it. Because roof windows are fitted at a slant and often sit above normal reach, measuring and fixing them is a slightly different job from a wall window blind, which is why Impress's advisor measures and fits these in person rather than leaving it to a standard bracket.
Suits plain, functional roof spaces such as loft conversions, box rooms and conservatory roof panels, where a flat blackout fabric rather than a decorative finish is the priority.

Roof windows vary in angle and height, and some sit well above head height. Your advisor measures the actual opening and, for anything hard to reach, will usually suggest motorisation.

Both ranges here are blackout, so they suit bedrooms and rooms used for screens or daytime sleep. If you just want to soften glare, mention that at your appointment.

Will a roof window blind block out all the light?
The ranges shown here are blackout fabrics, designed to cut light significantly for sleep or screen use. No fabric gives total darkness at every edge, since roof windows often let some light in around the frame, but blackout skylight blinds are the closest option Impress offers for this.
Can these blinds cope with heat from a roof window?
Blackout fabric helps reduce glare and some heat gain, but how much difference it makes depends on the window's size, aspect and glazing. Your advisor will talk through what to expect for your specific roof window when they visit.
Are skylight blinds fitted differently to normal blinds?
Roof windows sit at an angle rather than vertically, so the fitting method is different from a standard window blind. Our fitters measure and fit skylight blinds as part of the same appointment and price, using whichever fixing suits your particular window.
Is cordless the only option for skylight blinds?
The ranges here are cordless as standard, which suits windows that are out of easy reach or rooms with children. If you would prefer motorised control instead, particularly for a hard-to-reach roof window, ask your advisor about that at your appointment.
Can I get a sample of a skylight blackout fabric before ordering?
Yes, free fabric samples are available and posted first class, up to five per order, so you can check the shade and weight of a blackout fabric against your own room before your advisor's visit or afterwards.

Is fitting included in the price?
Yes. The quote you are given covers the product, the fitting and the guarantee. Your fitter hangs everything, checks the operation with you and takes the packaging away.
Who measures the windows?
Your advisor does, on the appointment. That matters for more than convenience: because we take the measurements, the fit is our responsibility rather than yours. Every opening is measured on its own — we never size one window off the one next to it.
What guarantee do I get?
A 1-year guarantee on every blind, shutter and motor we supply and fit. If something goes wrong inside that period, ring the office and we come back out.
Which type of blind suits which room?
Rollers are the simplest and best value and take blackout or dimout fabrics for bedrooms. Romans give a soft, curtain-like fold in living rooms. Venetians and wooden slats let you tilt light rather than just block it, which suits kitchens and studies. Verticals handle wide spans and patio doors. Day & night blinds have alternating stripes so you can trade privacy against light through the day.
